Jozef Puska has been found guilty of the murder of 23-year-old Ashling Murphy. Mr Puska will be sentenced to the mandatory term of life in prison after victim impact evidence is heard at a later date. The jurors, who reached a verdict this afternoon, found the 33-year-old father-of-five, who is originally from Slovakia, guilty of murdering the 23-year-old primary school teacher in a random stabbing as she walked along the Grand Canal on January 12th, 2022. Ms Murphy’s parents Ray and Kathleen, her sister Amy, brother Cathal and her boyfriend Ryan Casey were in the packed courtroom when the verdict was delivered.
